Note: At the Annual Communication of the United Grand Lodge of NJ, December 29th and 30th of
1879, John H. Graham, Worshipful Master of Lincoln Lodge No. 7, Elizabeth, was elected Junior
Grand Warden Lincoln Lodge No. 7, of Elizabeth, had one Grand Master, The Most Worshipful I.
Alfred Lawrence. He presided over the 70th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge held at the
Masonic Hall in Camden, N.J. On December 27th and 28th of 1917. M. W. Grand Master I. Alfred
Lawrence was considered as being very progressive and far ahead of his time. His picture is on
the wall of the Grand Master’s Office at Prince Hall Masonic Temple (188 Irvin Boulevard  Ave.,
Newark NJ) along with side of  and with his pictures of all the other past Grand Masters of Prince
Ha;; Masonry, Jurisdiction of New Jersey.

The warrant (or charter) of Lincoln Lodge No. 62 was done by eighteen (18) members of King
Hiram Grand Lodge of NJ coming over to the Prince Hall Grand Lodge almost intact. They were
granted a dispensation to form a lodge on August 27, 1949 and worked under Dispensation until
December 17, 1949, when they were issued a formal charter. Their first meeting was held in
Liberty Baptist Church, 515-517 Court St, Elizabeth, NJ Past Grand Master Edward T. Bowser was
Grand Master at that time. Others were the now Past Grand Master Aldreage B. Cooper, Deputy
Grand Master, David B. Nichols, Senior Grand Warden, James G. Sherman, Junior Grand Warden.
Lincoln was aided and abetted  by then Eighth Masonic Distric Deputy Grand Master, Past Grand
Master William H. Moss and the Sixth Masonic District Deputy
Grand Master Richard A. Ashby.
